Suffolk Wedding Show - Ipswich School

Yesterday I exhibited at The Suffolk Wedding Show at Ipswich School. It was an extremely busy day and lovely to see so many couples. Thanks to all of you who took the time to visit our stand and chat with us. I was especially grateful to all of you who mentioned that you had read the blog and that you like that part of the site as it encourages me to try and write on here more frequently and to keep it updated.

As always we hope to hear from many of you over the next few weeks as you arrange your future wedding dates and we hope to be photographing many of your weddings over the next few years.

The next show I will be exhibiting at (and the last one for the spring) is the Prested Hall Wedding Fair at Prested Hall, Feering (nr.Colchester) on Sunday 27th April - I'll write more details on this one soon

Portrait Photography - Updated Photos

Well, hopefully I've managed to load up the new
Portrait photographs successfully. If you've looked at the website over the Easter Break and happened to view the Portrait section it first of all had all the wedding photos in and then went on to have nothing in. My fingers are crossed that this has now been rectified. The new Portrait Photographs can now be viewed in the galleries section of the website if you click on the portraits tab.

As always I am sad to see the old photographs go. Here's just a couple of the photographs that have now been removed:

This one is a family who I worked with a couple of years ago - the children were all fantastic fun and very well behaved

This one is a photograph taken on the old boats at Pin Mill in Suffolk and was shot on location. Andrew is one little boy to watch out for in the future. He is always coming up with money making ideas and I'm convinced he will be the next Alan Sugar!

I have several portrait sessions lined up in the next few months and will put some of those photographs online in due course.

New Wedding Photographs Uploaded

Yesterday I decided it was about time that I uploaded some different Wedding Photographs to my website. This has been one of those jobs that I find really hard to do as I could quite easily put hundreds of photographs on that we have taken and I love (there are 60 photos now in this section - please click on the next and previous buttons below the thumbnails to view them all and on a thumbnail image to view it larger on the right hand side). It is also hard finding the time to prioritise this when so much else always needs doing.

Whilst I am pleased to have updated this section I am also sad to see some of the older photographs go. Here are just a few of my favourites from older weddings that have now been removed and were taken in 2005 and 2006:

Claire and Justin's Wedding took place in April 2006 at Thornham Walled Garden. They were not sure whether they wanted any photographs taken during the ceremony but I took a few anyway and the one below of them turned out to be one of their favourite photographs

Bronwen and Ian's Wedding was photographed at Bylaugh Hall and Thurning Hall in April 2006 and was one of the windiest days I have ever experienced during a wedding. They got married in St Nicholas' Church in Dereham and had the reception at a very small and exclusive venue called Thurning Hall. They have stayed in touch and now have a daughter called Beatrice who looks gorgeous (they have moved from England to New York and then to France with Ian's work so I haven't had the pleasure of photographing Beatrice yet)

This dancing photo was taken at Melissa and Tim's Wedding which took place at the Assembly House in Norwich. Melissa and Tim have since had a baby girl whom I am hoping to photograph soon.

This photograph was taken at Kelly and James' Wedding who were one of the shyest couples we have worked with. The church is at Claydon and is one of the most beautiful churches I have seen.

Here is a photograph of Melissa who's Wedding I photographed back in September 2005. I really like this one of her veil being put on.

This last one was photographed at Sutton Staithe Hotel at Karen and Chris' Wedding in July 2005. She held on to the pink teddy all day and insisted on wearing her mum's hat!

Where does the time go to? When I see these photo's it feels like only yesterday that we were photographing these weddings and some of these couples have been married now for almost 3 years - I daren't look at some of the even earlier weddings as it makes me start to feel old!

Ok - back to work rather than reminiscing ... I have Harriet and Chris' images (whose wedding I photographed recently and will write about soon) to send off for their proof book and some album work to do. I will also be working on collating some of my recent portrait photographs together so that I can update the Portrait photographs section of the website as well in the next couple of weeks.

New Sample Wedding to view in Your Album Section

As well as updating the wedding photographs gallery I recently got Sarina and James' Wedding made a permanent fixture on their for you to view a complete wedding at
Yaxley Hall.

This should give couples the chance to view a complete wedding rather than just the selection and give them a feel for the quality of the photographs taken throughout the day. Sarina and James had a very small and intimate wedding at Yaxley Hall last September and only needed coverage from getting ready through to the time they sat down to eat (they didn't have an evening reception). It was a beautiful day which all took place at the venue and everyone had a really good time. Being such a small wedding they could also eat in the dining room rather than using the marquee which created a very homely and welcoming atmosphere. I hope that Sarina and James stay in touch as they were a lovely couple to work with and we would love to hear from them in the future.

In contrast to Sarina and James' wedding I am hoping to add another wedding permanently to the Proof Wedding Photograph Albums section of the website this Spring/Summer. I will be putting a larger wedding on which will hopefully start with the bride getting ready at one location, followed by a church ceremony, then on to a daytime reception followed by evening entertainment.

With the two selections online this should provide a good overview for future couples as to how we make sure we capture the uniqueness of each wedding whilst allowing you to feel relaxed and enjoy your day.

Who's wedding will I be choosing for this new album online? hmmmmm ..... there are so many to choose from and so many couples days who we have already enjoyed working with over the years. As our photographic style develops and progresses every year trying new techniques, lighting and locations I feel that the best representation is going to be to use a forthcoming wedding. I have therefore decided to choose one of the weddings that I will be photographing between April and July this year. If you have already booked me to photograph your wedding between the above months and you fit in with the above description of what I am looking for then it could well be your wedding that's featured!!!! How exciting I hear you say ... don't worry though ... for all of my couples who don't get put online permanently your photographs will still be put in the Your Album section for friends and family to view after your day (they will just be password protected and online for approximately 10 weeks).

I will write on this subject again once the new album is uploaded.

Marshall & Sun-Young's Wedding @ Spains Hall, Finchingfield

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Marshall and Sun-Young's Wedding at Spains Hall. It was a particular honour to work for a couple who's auntie and uncle actually own the venue and the first time that we have done this for such a grand and gorgeous wedding venue.

What a fantastic and unusual wedding this one was - we had three ceremonies to photograph. Initially we photographed the civil ceremony which happened early on in the day, they then had a religious blessing which Marshall's father conducted followed by a Korean Ceremony before their meal.

As well as the ceremonies we also had changes of clothes - the bride and groom wore both the more traditional western dress and Korean Outfits. I must confess to being really taken by the Korean clothes with fantastic embroidery and vivid colours brightening up a windy February day and being a real treat for us to photograph.

Below are photographs of Marshall and Sun-Young in both their Western Dress and Korean Outfits together with a couple of photos of the embroidery

This photograph is one that David took and it makes me smile everytime I see it. Little did I know at the time of taking the photograph of Sun-Young and the older bridesmaids that the smallest bridesmaid, Su-Yun had crept up behind me and was pulling faces to make them laugh. When I turned round (as you can see) she still continued to pull faces for them

We also had a very brief period of bright sunlight through the dark grey clouds and I really like this photograph of Sun-Young with the sun behind her.

I love this one of them walking through the confetti after their religious blessing and the sense of movement.

At the Korean Ceremony there was a huge variety of food all so beautifully presented. The birds were carefully carved out of food and the layout was spectacular.

During the ceremony there was a lot of exchanging that took place with different symbolic meanings. Towards the end of the ceremony chestnuts and dates were thrown by the parents for the bride and groom to catch in a cloth.

I am fairly certain that they said this symbolises how many children the bride and groom will have - the look on Sun-Young's face after catching sooo many says it all and captures the spirit of their day perfectly.

If you attended Marshall and Sun-Young's Wedding and would like to view their wedding photos these are now available online and I am sure they will give you the password to look at them.

We have also had wonderful feedback from the couple and Marshall's mum with some very kind comments about both us and the photographs which is greatly appreciated. To read theirs and others reviews of our photography have a look at the main website.

I will also keep you updated with the news on this wedding as Essex Wedding Magazine has shown an interest in putting Marshall and Sun-Young's Wedding in a real-life wedding feature. If this goes ahead I'll write more details when I know.

This is one wedding that I am sure neither David or I will forget in a very long time and we hope that Marshall and Sun-Young and their families stay in touch in the future. We wish them a lifetime of happiness together and will be keen to hear when they are expecting all those children!
