The Suffolk Wedding Show - this Sunday (4th March 2012)

This is just a quick post to let you all know that we are exhibiting at The Suffolk Wedding Show this coming Sunday if you'd like to meet us, view our books and albums and to see if we're exactly what you're looking for in Wedding Photographers.  Details are as follows:

Sunday 4th March 2012
The Suffolk Wedding Show - Wherstead Park, Wherstead
11.00am-3.30pm
We will be on stand 23 (in the marquee)
Free Admission
This show looks to be brilliant again this Spring and is one we very much enjoy exhibiting at.  The Show is run in conjunction with Heart Radio and there are around 60 exhibitors so it should be a great day with a lot for you to look at.  There are always plenty of photographers at this event so you can find a style to suit you perfectly from the traditional to the complete reportage.  I would put us somewhere in between the two - we capture your day in a natural, informal and relaxed way but we do take some formal shots as well as most of our couples are looking for a mix of the two to keep everyone happy!

It's always lovely to see so many people and we'll have lots of beautiful books and gorgeous albums for you to look at.  If you feel like having a chat with us we'll try our best to answer any questions you have and hopefully we'll be available on your date to photograph your day.  We'll also have a very special offer running on the show day (and for a short period after) for those who take the time to come and see us and want to book us for their day :-)

We're currently taking a lot of enquiries (and bookings) for next year (and for the last few dates available this year) so please get in touch with us as soon as you can if you are interested in us sharing in your day with you as recently we have had to turn away some very disappointed couples as we have already been booked on their dates.

If you can't make this show please don't worry though there's plenty on my Website for you to look at and we can arrange meetings at other times to get together.

We look forward to seeing you there and hope to be photographing many of your weddings soon

Wedding Detail Photographs Idea of the Day - Old Photographs

Old photographs taken of couples and friends and family look great on wedding days and add a touch of nostalgia.

Here are some of the ways we've seen old photos used

We've also seen photos used as table centre pieces with photos of the guests attending which looked lovely

Our next Wedding Details Post will be on umbrellas!

Wedding Detail Photographs Idea of the Day - ideas to keep small children, teenagers and restless adults happy at a wedding!

There are many little things you can do to keep small children happy at weddings and we've seen lots of ideas that work well.  Teenagers however are often a little harder to keep amused (other than leaving them alone with their smart phone!).

One idea we've seen which has gone down really well is a bag on their seat containing things that they would like.  The latest issue of a magazine (on gadgets or gossip for example) for them to read over dinner or into the evening is a thoughtful gift and is likely to be received well by both the recipient and the parents! (although just a word of caution that perhaps steer slightly clear of lads-mags unless you know their parents would approve!)

Colourful bibs for the younger guests at the meal look lovely and colouring books for the slightly older ones are very thoughtful touches

For smaller children it's much easier to keep them entertained ... if sweets don't work then a toy usually does!

At a couple of weddings we've been to the smaller bridesmaids/flowergirls have been given little dolls that have been made to look like them which is really cute and a lovely keepsake for them

We've also seen a pop-up tent at one wedding for a very special flowergirl (the bride and groom's daughter)

The following ideas seem to work well for both children and adults as they are always sources of a lot of fun.  I'm sure we've all been to a wedding at one time or another where there's that lull at some point in the day and you become restless and want something to do (or perhaps that's just me!)

Bubbles provide hours of entertainment .... as do balloons

Slightly more traditional games such as croquet, boules, giant jenga etc all are great

We've also seen a children's entertainer/magician (Noah is his name and he's fab, we've seen him on more than one occasion and he's always very good) who are worth their weight in gold in my opinion.  He kept the children (and some adults) amused whilst the speeches went on in another room and then did close-up magic for the adults in the evening.

At another wedding a fancy dress hamper was provided for adults and children in the evening

Games in the evenings always go down well.  Starting with a games room

One of the more unusual forms of entertainment we've seen set up is an arcade version of clay pigeon shooting

Choosing your own music during the time between dinner and dancing is such a nice idea

A casino is another novel way of keeping guests amused

For the more childlike amongst us (and that would include me I'm afraid!) we've seen some brilliant bouncy castles and giant sumo suits that never fail to make people smile

Even a sack race!

Our next wedding detail ideas will be on using old photographs as a part of your day

Wedding Detail Photographs Idea of the Day - Unusual flower ideas

We occasionally see something a little different with flowers on a wedding day to traditional buttonholes, bouquets and centre pieces.  I will be putting on here on separate posts (at a later date) lots of bridal bouquets we've seen in lots of different colours for you to look at which may help you when trying to find a bouquet you like

At Anna and Dick's Wedding they gave each guest a red rose at their arrival at the church

Fake Flowers as corsages on dresses can just be that little finishing touch to make your dress that little bit different

Instead of giving bridesmaids a bouquet to hold a corsage is a pretty little touch.  We've also seen corsages given to guests of importance who aren't bridesmaids just to identify them as being extra special and important to the couple

We usually associate wreaths with either Christmas or funerals but I really like the idea of a welcome wreath at a wedding reception

At a vintage themed wedding recently the flowers were displayed in unusual containers like teapots which looked fantastic

At another country themed wedding they had flower dispalys in both old watering cans and vintage vases (above and below) - these all looked amazing

Also we've seen different size small vases with lots of different flowers in each one which was both quirky and fun.  I loved the look of this table!

Lastly are a couple of other ideas that are a little different for flowers on your tables

Our next wedding ideas post will have ideas to keep small children, teenagers and restless adults happy!

Wedding Detail Photographs Idea of the Day - Good Luck Charms

There are many things that are thought to bring good luck on a wedding day.  They range from a sixpence in your shoe, to a lucky black cat, a horse shoe, a lucky sweep, 50p in a cork and even rain on your wedding day (although there are two schools of thought on this - I'd rather go with that it's a positive sign especially when you think of how much rain we have in this country!)

Now that poem suggests that I may have missed a line off of my 'something blue' post!

Sticking a six pence in with double-sided tape is a wise idea to stop it sliding around in your shoe or you losing it

We often see lucky charms put on brides bouquet ribbon

We've only seen a lucky sweep once at a wedding and here's a photo of him

Our next wedding ideas post will have photos of sentimental things!

Wedding Detail Photographs Idea of the Day - Sentimental things

We are all a little sad when loved ones are either no longer with us or can't attend a very special occasion such as a wedding day.  We've seen lots of sweet little touches to make sure that they are still remembered though despite not being there in person

At Mel's Wedding in September last year she set out a lot of sentimental things for me to photograph, these included rings, photographs, her mother's bridal head piece, an order of ceremony from her parents wedding and lots of other tiny details which were all extra special

Grandmothers brooches are often attached to the bride's accessories which is a lovely little touch

One bride whose dad is sadly no longer with us attached his wedding ring to her shoes so he would walk down the aisle with her (this little touch almost made me cry)

We have seen special candles lit at several ceremonies in memory of those special people who are no longer with us.

Our next post will be a little cheerier and will be about unusual flower ideas
