We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Wow - such a long time since I last wrote on here. I don't know how people find the time to write every day on these things! Note to self: new years resolution is to try to keep this as up-to-date as possible! I'll try to write at the beginning of January updating you with what I've been up to and photographing recently and I'll try to add some new photos to the site along with some background and photos of wedding venues around the area.

This really is a quick note to thank all of you that I have worked with and photographed this last year - it has been a pleasure and I have very much enjoyed sharing these special moments in your life with you all. Already some of you are expecting new arrivals in the new year which is always wonderful to hear. I am having a little break over the Christmas period but will be back and raring to go with all of you who've booked for 2008.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Thank you Card from Amanda & Glynn

Just a quick note to say how touched David and I were to receive such a gorgeous thank you note from Amanda and Glynn whose wedding we photographed back in September. It is always lovely to hear from couples to know that they are happy with what we've done for them.

Here's Amanda and Glynn's note (minus the gorgeous card that Amanda made herself - she's extremely talented!) which I hope they don't mind me sharing with you:

"To Hayley and David, Just wanted to say a huge thank you for doing our wedding photography on the 1st September 2007. You did such an amazing job and made us feel so relaxed! We are overwhelmed with how beautiful the photos are and we shall hold those memories close to our hearts for the rest of our lives and you helped to make that happen for us! We've had so many compliments about you and your work and we won't hesitate to contact you again in the future and will certainly recommend you to others. We had a magical day and enjoyed every moment. It was perfect photography for a perfect day. You're a star. Thank you so much once again. Kind regards from Amanda and Glynn Rose xxx"

To read some more of our Wedding Photography reviews please have a look at the reviews section on our website.

Here's one of the photographs taken at their reception at Haughley Park Barn

For those of you who did attend Amanda and Glynn's Wedding their photographs are still online for you to view .

Thanks again for your kind comments Amanda and Glynn - we look forward to giving you your gorgeous handmade finished album soon

Lifestyle Portrait Session with Holly

This week as wedding season quietens a little for me I had the pleasure of photographing a portrait session in Suffolk which was a birthday present that Holly's mum bought for her to celebrate her 21st.

As Holly is in the Army and away most of the time the session had to be done this week before she went back on duty. Fortunately, despite a brief sharp shower the weather held out for us and I think the stormy weather followed by a bright blue sky helped create a beautiful atmosphere for her photographs.

We spent most of the time walking the two dogs on the beach which was gorgeous. I can't believe that Oscar (the dog in the photograph below) is 16 years old!

I love Holly's portrait photographs so much I have put some in the galleries online

2008 Winter & Spring Wedding Fayres

Following the success of this autumns wedding fayres at Prested Hall, Feering and The Suffolk Wedding Show at Ipswich School I will be exhibiting again at these venues next year. Both were very busy days and it was lovely to see so many people. A lot of couples have gone on to book dates for 2008 and 2009 and I am very much looking forward to working with and photographing these couples.

For those of you who didn't have your dates sorted quite yet or if you couldn't make it to the autumn shows I'd love to see you at one of the following shows that I will be exhibiting at where you will be able to look at the gorgeous handmade albums and beautiful books as well as meeting me and asking any questions you may have. In the meantime you are welcome to look at my Wedding photographs taken in Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire that are online.

If you have booked and just want to pop in and say hi it's always nice to see you :)

Sunday 27th January 2008 - Open Day at Spains Hall, Finchingfield, Essex
This is the first time Spains Hall have opened their doors in this way. It is a great location with friendly and helpful staff. To find out further details about this day and using Spains Hall as a wedding venue please have a look at their website: http://www.spainshall.co.uk

Sunday 30th March 2008 - The Suffolk Wedding Show, Ipswich School, Ipswich
This show looks to be massive again next year and is run in conjunction with SGR Fm Radio. It is the second time I will be exhibiting here but with over 60 exhibitors and the chance to win your wedding it should be a good day. For further details of the show and who will be there please have a look at their main website: http://www.thesuffolkweddingshow.co.uk/

Sunday 27th April 2008 - Prested Hall, Feering, Colchester
This show was well worth visiting last year and looks to be fantastic again next year. This will be the second time I will be exhibiting here. There are plenty of exhibitors for you to look at and discuss options for your day. There is a small charge (it was £1 last year) to enter the show but it is well worth it. For further details please look at Presteds Main website: http://www.prested.co.uk

I'll try to update you with any further details of these shows nearer the time. Please check the individual websites before setting off on any long journeys though just to make sure they are still going ahead.

Weddings in October

Crikey - what a hectically busy month October was for me - so much so that the weeks seemed to fly by and I haven't had a chance to update the blog at all. Congratulations are therefore due to 3 of my couples who got married last month - so belated best wishes are sent to you all.
Firstly there was Sarah and Tom whose wedding we photographed at Yaxley Hall at the beginning of last month. The weather was good for photographs - they both looked amazing and Tom's green stripey socks made me laugh. The cake was superb and smelt delicious - they had lots of small chocolate ones that make me feel hungry just thinking about them

As always Yaxley Hall staff were a pleasure to work with and the day seemed to go by perfectly. I look forward to hopefully photographing some more weddings as Yaxley next year and seeing Sarah and Tom on Saturday to design their album with them.

The following week I worked with Nicky and James whose wedding we photographed at Caistor Hall, Norfolk. At the start of the day the weather wasn't looking so good and it was a little drizzly but this certainly didn't lower anyone's enthusiasm and excitement. As weddings go this one was a little different with a dress code of black tie and evening dresses - all the men looked very smart indeed and it had the feel of a film premiere with the red carpet out the front of the hall then later in the evening they had a casino which everyone seemed to enjoy!

I'm looking forward to seeing them on Wednesday to design their album with them.

Then a couple of weeks ago we worked with Seonad and Andy whose wedding we photographed at the Atheaneum, Bury St Edmunds. Seonad and Andy live in Holland so I have worked extra hard to work on their images so we can meet this week and design their album before they return. Considering it was late October the weather was pretty good all day. Seonad's cousin Kenny was out on the balcony at the Athaneum and piped for a good half an hour before the service. He did a sterling job (photograph of him below) and entertained not only the wedding guests but passers by in Bury seemed to really enjoy his music.
After the ceremony we had some lovely warm autumnal light and went over to the Abbey Gardens ( a short walk away) to do some photographs by the ruins . The evening was certainly different as well with a large screen for those wanting to watch the Rugby, a disco and a casino so everyone was happy!

Right, that was a long update so I must get back to preparing Rebecca and Tristan's album images and CD. I will write again very soon

Postal Strikes

Ahhhh - as I'm sure you are all aware there is currently a postal strike going on. For any of you that have booked your wedding with me recently (before yesterday) please rest assured that I have received your deposits and returned forms. I have put all your confirmations in the post but I think it is unlikely that you will see them before the end of next week. If you are worried that yours may have got lost however please give me a call or send me an e-mail and I'll let you know if I have it.

Any recent reprint orders will also be a little delayed but hopefully not by any significant length of time as long as the postal strike ceases next week as planned.

Calendar Shoot

This week I was asked to do something a little different and did my first charity calendar. It's to help raise money for Saplings Pre-School in Bottisham, Cambridgeshire and involved lots of nice dad's having their photographs taken with not a lot on (only in some cases did they take off most of their clothes and nothing seedy at all!) All of them were very co-operative and a pleasure to photograph. I'm currently working on their images and will be sending them something shortly. I wish them lots of success in raising plenty of money from the finished calendar.

Spains Hall - Rebecca and Tristan

What a busy week this week's been that I have only just had the chance to write on here. Last weekend we met Rebecca and Tristan to photograph their wedding at Spains Hall. The photographs look fab and I'm looking forward to sharing them with you all soon.

Thankfully the weather had brightened up from earlier in the week so we were able to use the fantastic gardens they have at Spains Hall and we even got some photographs of Rebecca's horse who came for a little of the reception!

Home Page of Website Updated

Today I have updated the home page of my Website with some new photographs. The main photograph is of Sarina and James whose wedding I photographed at Yaxley Hall a couple of weeks ago. Their wedding was a small and intimate occasion and we very much enjoyed photographing them. They are a gorgeous couple and were a pleasure to work with.
I wish them all the best for a happy life together.

The smaller top photograph was taken at Emily and Phyl's wedding I photographed at Hintlesham Hall in July this year. Again, they were fantastic to work with and easy to photograph.

I must confess I was a little sad to see the old photographs go from the home page now I've started updating the site. I loved the photograph of Dawn and Stuart taken at their wedding in Mendlesham Church last July. They must have had one of the hottest and sunniest days of last year! As you'll see below, the light captured the two of them through the church window perfectly.

Another photograph I was sad to see go was of the children at Anita and John's Wedding photographed last July at Orwell Park School followed by their reception at Belsteed Brook Hotel. The children were well behaved, funny and loved having their photographs taken.

The new photographs for the galleries section showing weddings and portraits photographed in Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex will be updated in the next couple of weeks so please check back to see them (who knows - if I've photographed your wedding or a wedding you've attended it could well be you appearing!)

Amanda and Glynn - Wedding @ Haughley Park Barn, Suffolk

Just a quick note to say congratulations to Amanda and Glynn whose wedding I photographed at Haughley Park Barn, Suffolk last Saturday. It was a fantastic day with really good weather (which makes a change this year!). I'm really pleased with their photographs and can't wait to show them all the images on their return from honeymoon. Once Amanda and Glynn are back their images will also be put online so those of you who attended the wedding can look at them.

Wishing you both all the best for a long and happy future together which I'm certain you will have

Online Album Ideas and Pages

Hopefully in September the Website will be updated so that you can not only view sample album pages but you will also be able to see photographs showing details of the albums and books I use. This should help those of you who enquire but live a long way away to get more ideas on the overall style and quality that your finished book or album will be.

Forthcoming Autumn Wedding Fayres

Whilst I seem to have a couple of spare minutes (quite unusual at this time of year) I thought I'd also update the blog with the Wedding fairs in Suffolk and Norfolk that I'm attending this autumn.

Sunday 30th September 2007 - Prested Hall, Feering, Colchester
To find out further details about this wedding fair and using Prested Hall as a wedding venue please have a look at their website: http://www.prested.co.uk/

Sunday 14th October 2007 - The Suffolk Wedding Show, Ipswich School, Ipswich
This show looks to be massive this year and is run in conjunction with SGR Fm Radio. It is the first time I will be exhibiting here but with over 60 exhibitors and the chance to win your wedding it should be a good day. For further details of the show and who will be there please have a look at their main website: http://www.thesuffolkweddingshow.co.uk/

I look forward to meeting many of you soon.

Congratulations - Something in the Water?

Congratulations to the many couples who I photographed last year who are now hearing the pitter-patter of tiny feet. So many of you are having babies this year that I am almost losing count and starting to think that there's something in the water! I really appreciate hearing from you all with your happy news like this. The most recent couple I have heard from are Bronwen and Ian whose Wedding I photographed at Bylaugh Hall and Thurning Hall last April and who now live in New York. The safe arrival of their daughter Bea was fantastic news and I wish Bronwen a speedy recovery as well as much happiness for the three of them for the future.  I'll be checking your blog site over the next few months to keep updated with your news.

I always look forward to hearing news from my couples who I've worked with over the years so please feel free to e-mail me and keep me updated of what you're up to!

The World of Blogging

Well, I have eventually joined the many of you who already have blog sites to keep you informed of what I am up to and any new photography projects that I am undertaking. This seems a slightly daunting task as I seem to be dashing about all over the place most of the time so how well I'll manage to keep this updated remains to be seen!

For those of you who don't know anything about me (I guess most of you looking at this site will already know so unless you want a brief this-is-my-life type post I'd finish reading this one) here goes:

I am a photographer who specialises in wedding photography in Suffolk, wedding photography in Norfolk, wedding photography in Cambridgeshire, and wedding photography in Essex although we do travel further afield and all over the world if we get the chance!

As well as wedding photography, we also specialise in Portrait photography in suffolk, norfolk, cambridgeshire and essex (always shot either in your own home or on location).

I love my job and feel very lucky that I get to work with so many happy, friendly and interesting people. No two weddings (or any session for that matter) are ever the same which just helps keep the job constantly rewarding and exciting. Just have a look at the wedding galleries section to see some of our work!

On a personal note I enjoy photographing in other areas as well such as landscapes, nature and architecture and wish I had more time to work in these areas - perhaps I'll put more time in the diary for this next year!

If you'd like to view some of my work please have a look at my: Website

This should give you a feel for the kind of person I am as well as the kind of images I like taking. I enjoy working informally and in a relaxed manner - capturing moments as they happen rather than setting up images.

For those of you who'd like to know a little more about me, just read the about section

I look forward to continually writing on here and seeing how it all evolves over time!
