Matthew - Portrait Session photographed in Norfolk

The next Portrait session I photographed was in Norfolk. I decided it was well overdue for me to photograph my nephew (and godson to be) who's growing so rapidly. This was a little different to a normal portrait session as he obviously knows me and so is a lot more mischievous and cheeky than children who I've just met are!

Despite me playing with Matthew (I probably played more than I took photos!) I did manage to get some 'work' done and caught some of his mannerisms on camera for my sister-in-law and her husband. Here's a small selection of the photos taken at their house and in their garden



Matthew is such a wonderful little character, full of energy, very happy and always charging around - sometimes I wonder if I can call it 'work' when you get to spend time with little ones like this!

Over the next few months I have to try to squeeze in another session with his older brother and sister as well as they were at school so I could just concentrate on Matthew this time round. I'll pop some more photos of the three of them on here once I've done their session!

Rosie - Baby Portrait Photography in Cambridgeshire

Continuing my portrait spree, my next Portrait session was with a tiny baby called Rosie. For those of you who read this blog regularly you may remember that I photographed Katie and Jason's Wedding back in September. Katie was pregnant at the time and here's the beautiful result, baby Rosie Lulu. I had the pleasure of spending a little bit of time with her just when she was just a few weeks old.

She was such a good baby for me, no tears just happy and contented. I love the photos of her so much (and so do Jason and Katie who saw the images a couple of weeks ago and have their proof book and DVD). Here's just a tiny collection for you to peep at.

Aren't her tiny hands and feet sweet! (with the feet photo I experimented with a new vintage effect which I think looks fab)

All my recent portrait sessions have been fantastic and I can't wait to put some of these photos on the new galleries section of the website when it launches! Mentioning the new site, we are currently sorting out some minor tweaks we've encountered and so, the launch has been put back a bit until these are resolved! As soon as the new site goes live I'll mention it on here though so keeping checking the blog over the next few weeks for updates!

Going back to talking about Rosie, Jason and Katie, it was lovely to photograph them both on their big day last year and now to have had the honour of photographing their gorgeous little girl. I really hope that they stay in touch and I get to photograph them all again as Rosie gets older (as well as any other additions to their family in the future).

Portrait Session with Imogen photographed in Suffolk

Back in March I had the pleasure of meeting up with Ruth and Guy again who's Wedding we photographed in 2006 at Seckford Hall, Suffolk. They have been blessed with a daughter called Imogen and they asked me if I'd take some photos of her and them which was an honour. Imogen is just over a year old and was very good for our session despite having a bad nights sleep the night before.

We met at Ruth's parents house for our Portrait session and shot the photos both indoors and outside. Here are a small selection of the photos that I love.

What a gorgeous little girl she is. Such beautiful blue eyes, a cheeky smile and fabulous blonde curls!

I've already sent Ruth and Guy the DVD and proof book of these photos and it was great to hear from them to know that they are really happy with the photos. It was wonderful to see and work with them both again and meet Imogen. I am really pleased that they stayed in touch and I'm looking forward to hearing from them again in the future and hopefully continuing to photograph their lives.

What we were up to in March

I'll give you three guesses? .... work, work and some more work.

We started off March with a bang having seen our favourite band (The Killers) at the very end of February which recharged the batteries and made us feel alive again!

March is usually used as a catch up month for us - we try to finish all our weddings from the previous year who haven't yet completed so that we can give this years couples our undivided attention. Sadly, this didn't happen completely but I should have them all finished by the end of this week. In general we try to complete all weddings within 16 weeks of the wedding date so that the day still is very fresh in everyone's memory. A lot of our couples live outside of East Anglia though so this isn't always possible - we don't mind it taking longer we just really want you to have your finished product and occasionally, we get couples who say they love the images but they just don't get back to us finalising albums etc as they are very busy. This is always tricky for all photographers as we know that if friends and relatives ask to see a couple's album and it's over a year since their wedding and they still don't have it that people assume that this is down to the photographer when a lot of the time it's not.

Anyway, I digress - just a little niggle that often is discussed amongst photographers but never tends to make it onto websites or blogs so I thought I'd mention it.

During March I have had the pleasure of photographing three portrait sessions in Cambridge, Norfolk and Suffolk which I'll write about individually in separate posts. All of them were great and I'm really pleased with all their photos.

Lastly, we have spent a lot of time and energy working on new designs for the Website as it was well overdue for a face lift. I am hoping that I will have this ready by the end of April for it's launch.

I've also been refreshing camera skills, adding to our kits, learning new skills in Photoshop and playing with some new finishes which I'll put on here soon. It's all very exciting and brings a new edge to our photography. I feel really ready to try some new things whilst still taking photos that are informal, relaxed and keep to our ideas of what wedding photography should be

Tim&Nakyung's Wedding photographed at Sandringham Church, Norfolk

Well, it's been a while since I've written on here and so apologies to all of you who check back regularly - I will try and keep it up-to-date over the wedding season. After the new year's eve wedding we had a little time to catch up and try to finish off outstanding work.

The next wedding we shot was on Valentine's day and that was Tim and Nakyung's Wedding. This Wedding was photographed at Sandringham Church followed by a reception at The Crown in Gayton.

We are always pleased to work on recommendation and are grateful to Donna and Nick (whose wedding we photographed last September at Sandringham) for recommending us to his Uncle (Tim) for their wedding.

We weren't quite sure what to expect weather wise as we'd had heavy snow earlier in the week and secretly I was hoping that it may last as I haven't been fortunate enough to photograph a wedding in snow yet. Luckily when we arrived not all the snow at Sandringham had thawed so there were patches for us to use - yippeee!!!!

Then the weather turned very stormy looking with dark looming clouds as Nakyung arrived. Here's a high contrast one of her looking beautiful and thoughtful, a close up of her flowers and one of them before they came in the church



Just like the last time we were at Sandringham we were only allowed a limited photo during the ceremony and here it is


After the ceremony we tried to do the group shots as quick as possible as it was very cold and we took some of the two of them. Nakyung was very brave as she had open-toed sandals on but still stood in the snow so that I could take some photos of them - I am very grateful to her for this as the photos in the snow are lovely. Here's just a couple of photos of them and one of her toes in the snow!



Then we did the confetti before they left for the reception


During the start of the reception they had their toasts and the bestman gave them some ducks which have great meaning in Korean wedding ceremonies. Here's a couple of photos of that.


We left them when they sat down for their meal but before I finish this I thought you might like to see the cupcakes that Donna (bride from September) made with her friend - they looked fantastic and I bet that they tasted it as well - I'm sure there's another career calling to Donna!

Working in the snow and freezing conditions for Tim and Nakyung's wedding was great fun and challenging all at the same time. We very much enjoyed photographing their friends and family and I am looking forward to seeing them both next week to finalise their album with them.
