What a wonderful day we spent with them. We started with the getting ready. As always, David was with the boys whilst I stayed with the girls.
This is the first time in a long time for us where something put a small spanner in the works. There was a power cut and with no back up generators (although Elms Barn do have them now I'm told) everything was a little trickier than usual. Most brides would have completely panicked at this stage but Rachael was incredibly calm taking it all in her stride. There was only one socket (don't ask me why it worked as I don't know but it did) in the entire place in Elms Barn office that worked. Therefore we trundled over to the office which was turned into a mini hair salon. Things were tighter than usual with not a lot of space to get photos but I still managed a few and they do tell the story of their day very well. Here's one of them.
Needless to say the ceremony then had to be conducted by candlelight which was very romantic. Here's a few of those photos.
By the time of the speeches thankfully the electricity had come back on so it was a lot lighter to take some photos. Here's one taken during their first dance.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable day with Rachael and Matt - they are a wonderful couple who we have enjoyed working with - I'm looking forward to getting together with them soon to design their photobook with them. We are sure that they will have a very happy life together.
After they had seen their photos Rachael sent us this lovely e-mail which we very much appreciated.
'Hi Hayley and David,
WOW! We love our photos so so so much!!! They're even better than we thought they could be. We've given the password to a few friends and family and they've all said how well you both managed to capture the day. Everyone is either laughing or smiling and every shot is so natural. You both rally made us feel at ease on the day and that definitely comes across on our photos. Thank you thank you thank you! We can't wait for the proof book if all of the photos. We really can't wait to see you to design our book.
Lots of love to you both and huge thanks again for everything you both did, you guys are one (or two) in a million.

After the ceremony we did some group shots (including a large aerial one)
outside followed by just some photos of them on their own. Here's a small selection of just the two of them. Rachael had asked for lots of close-ups which I was happy to do.

Hi Hayley,
Just wanted to reiterate my sister's comments to you. You were fantastic, both as a photographer and a wedding guest! Having subsequently attended a wedding where we were all placed into posed shots, I really love the naturalness of your photos. Can't wait to see the full proof book once I eventually catch up with Rachael.
